Everybody knows the legendary Need for Speed series, especially the Underground and Underground 2 – those games were marvelous for the time of the release. But only a few remember Midnight Club, mainly console users – PS2 gamers enjoyed great Midnight Club 3, PS3 and Xbox 360 users race the latest Midnight Club: Los Angeles. Those games were much better than NFS in many aspects, including detailed real cities – San Diego, Atlanta and Detroit for the 3rd installment and obviously LA for the latest part.
There wasn’t any major news regarding the Midnight Club PS4, only some rumors and speculations. Rockstar games are busy working with Red Dead Redemption title and some new projects, not in hurry to go back to its racing franchise.
Nevertheless, we could speculate on the next city Rockstar choose. We could guess that would be the comeback of East Coast cities, like New York, debuted in the very first game of franchise in 2000. However, it could be a bit of a cliche, hardly to remember games where NY hasn’t mentioned.
We suppose that it would be better for a game if it goes a bit further than classic street racing. Watching the open-world giants like The Crew, it would be good to see something like that but more detailed and not so large-scale. There could be a whole state (pick any), or a couple of big cities connected with countryside (NY and Boston, for instance). That could be the middle states or not the United States at all – why not Europe?
Another option is to go back to previous parts concept and provide players with the ability to race in different cities (two or more). In addition to the great level of details, adequate difficulty level, car customization – next Midnight Club might be the real king of open-world racing games.
