Did you miss classical Quake or Doom? The spirit of nineties is coming back with the new game Strafe by Pixel Titans. The game promises lots of blood and horror. Strafe is still not finished but you can already download demo version which presents the overall idea of the game.
The alpha version of Strafe is already released. The version is rough and full of bugs but developers promise to fix them in the final release. The release date is in 2017
The story of the game is set in the future. You’re the member of the crew which has a mission to find Icarus, the spaceship which used to be full of people but now it is gone. However, the mission ends up without any results. In addition you lose connection with your home planet. Somehow you manage to find the way to the Icarus. You’re locked and loaded which is good because Icarus isn’t going to be a welcome place.
Strafe is developed exclusively for PC and system requirements are unknown yet. Still the game requires Window 7/Mac OS X 10.8 or later version.
The peculiarity of the games is pixel looking graphics which makes it closer to 90s Sci Fiction of Quake and Doom type. Nonetheless the developers present extra high physics of blood. There’s a lot of blood which comes as the centerpiece of the game.
The main character of Strafe is the spaceship Icarus which is full of mysteries. You’re come with a force team which is supposed to reveal them but very soon you’re left on your own.
Strafe offers control scheme typical for the shooter. Mouse and keyboard allow you to use all the functions necessary. You can feel the real fatigue playing this game because the number of mutants and monsters is unbelievable. There’re hoards of them which are not that easy to kill. The most important drawback is that the game is a little bit mundane. Thus you need to run through the zone one which is rather boring just to get to the zone two which is not very different from the previous zone. It makes you tired of the game. However, this is the impression from alpha version and the final release may come better.
Strafe is a retro game which will attract those who love classical shooters from 90s. Pixel style design and loads of blood make the game brutal and hardcore. In fact the trailer is enough to understand how crazy and wild the upcoming Strafe is.
